St. Augustine Spanish Wine Festival
The 2015 St. Augustine Spanish Wine Festival will run from September 9 - 12. Have fun while learning about Spanish wines from world-renowned wine experts. All proceeds from the festival will benefit three charitable organizations - Fresh Starts (assists the homeless in obtaining gainful employment), TAG Children's Museum (childhood learning) and Catholic Charities (feeding needy families). The event features Spanish music and dancing, delicious Spanish food and, of course, great Spanish wine. What better way to celebrate the rich Spanish heritage of St. Augustine!
This is your chance to sample Spanish wines and learn the history of Spanish winemaking. The Kickoff Luncheon is on September 9 at First Coast Technical College. Then enjoy tapas made by eight local chefs at Vino Veritas on September 10 at the Treasury on the Plaza.
Under a large tent with air-conditioning attend the highly regarded Cava Reception and Dinner on September 11 and the Grand Tasting on September 12 at the grounds of Mission Nombre de Dios.
At the Team Batalla de Vino event on September 12, also at the Mission Nobre de Dios grounds, teams in white garb will compete for $500 in winnings to be donated to their chosen local charity. The goal of the competition is to squirt the King and Queen of the opposing team with red wine. The team with the King and Queen in the whitest clothing at the end of the competition wins.
Wear white! After the team competitions, you'll be able to join thousands of individuals at the grounds by participating in squirting each others' clothing with red wine! Wine squirters will be provided.
Don't wait too long to get your tickets. The event has sold out every year since the first festival in 2012. Spanish wine enthusiasts from the world over come to St. Augustine to attend the festival. Tickets and complete information can be obtained at www.SpanishWineFestival.com
